Whether you’re getting ready to start keto or you have already gone through sugar detox, being prepared for this is key!
I’ve experienced plenty of these….and some are definitely more annoying than others, you feel me?
And some people experience the symptoms heavier than others, every “body” is different.
I lived with chronic migraines for over 20 years so I had just expected headaches everyday regardless, haha! (funny not funny)
But the CRAVINGS is what I really want to talk to you about. I’ve heard from y’all time and time again that the cravings get so intense that you give in. And I believe that… your body is a sugar burner when it is going through this detox, so naturally it’s going to crave and basically force you to want what it’s used to burning for fuel.
If you do end up giving in, don’t throw in the towel for the rest of the day, or week. Just jump right back on the wagon after that and keep going. Don’t wait for the next “Monday.”
Sugar is an ADDICTION. It’s not easy to break but the further away you are from the starting line, the cravings do drastically decrease for most people.
The good news is, on keto you can still have sweet treats, and they are DELICIOUS!
The goal is to break the addiction to sugar, not replace it with an addiction to keto sweets, so for that reason I recommend having keto desserts once, maybe twice per week if you enjoy desserts. Especially if your goal is fat loss.
At the end of the day, the best goal to set is to be consistent.
So that means, if one week you need an extra keto treat to keep going, have it!
If you have experienced additional sugar detox symptoms that aren’t listed here, I’d love to hear about it!
